MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
QUARTISRXY RETURNS
The following is the return of business done in the t Magistrate’s Cpurt, Foxtou, during the quarter ended September 30th. There were 19 sittings of the court held, two being presided over by the Magistrate and 17 by Justices. . CIVII, CASES. During the quarter three applications were heard iu chambers, 58 plaints were entered, five distress warrants, six judgment suinmoues were issued, two orders were made on judgment summonses, one warrant of committal was issued, 65 summonses and other processes Were served, and 10 distress warrants executed by the bailiff within two miles, and 30 summonses and five distress warrants over two miles. Two warrants of committal were executed by the bailiff. The aggregate am uut sued for was 9s 5d and the amount recovered was ing to £ll los were paid in stamps. CRIMINAL CASES. During the quarter 35 males were taken into custody, summoned or apprehended, one was discharged for want of evidence, six were dismissed on the merits, one was committed for trial, 27 were summarily convicted, 11 were fined, three were imprisoned in lieu of fine, six were peremptorily imprisoned, two orders were made and five were convicted and discharged. The fines amounted to £l4 xos and £2 6s was paid in stamps for criminal fees. OLD AGE PENSIONS. Five old age pensions were ranted and three are pending.
