HEMP MARKET.

Mr Petrie, local Government hemp grader, • supplies us with particulars of hemp graded at the local port for last month, which totalled 1169 bales. It will be seen that this total is an increase of six hundred and nine bales over the previous mouth, and an increase of five hundred and eighty seven bales over the corresponding month of 1908. There has been a considerable falling off in quality, the cause in most cases being due to freshes in the Manawalu. Several millers have experienced heavy losses through having their bleaching fields flooded. The figures are Good fair, 369; fair, 584; common, 16 ; total, 1169.
