THE RANGITIKEI SEAT.

MR HUTCHISON WITHDRAWS. Wanganui, September 9. Mr Geo. Hutchison has decided to voluntarily retire from the contest for the Rangitikei election in order not to jeopardise the prospects of an Opposition victory. The following is the text of the letter sent by Mr Hutchison to Mr Hockly :—'“ln accordance with my promise at our Hunterville meeting, having in the meantime ascertained general feeling in constituency, I have decided to retire in your favour so as to ensure Opposition victory.” This should make Mr Hockly’s chances of winning doubly certain.
