SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A special meeting of the local School Committee was held in the old school house last night, for the purpose of meeting the new headmaster, Mr Jacks®n. There were present: Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Rev. Aitken (secretary), Bullard, Coley, Alex. Speirs, J. T. Devett and T. Henderson. Apologies were received from Messrs Betty and Read. The Chairman said he had called the meeting in order that the Committee could meet Mr Jackson, and discuss informally any matters of mutual interest. He then formally welcomed Mr Jackson, on behalf of the Committee.

A general discussion followed, which included technical and high school matters, proposed improvements to the grounds, etc. Mr Jackson said he would only be too pleased to co-operate with the Committee in any undertaking which had for its object the improvement of the school and the advancement of the scholars. After thanking the Committee for its welcome, the meeting closed. — It was decided to introduce Mr Jackson to the scholars on Monday morning, when the Board representative will also be present.
