FOXTON RACING CLUB.
The annual meeting ot the Foxton Racing Club was held in the Club’s office on Saturday night. Mr W. E. Barber (vice-president) occupied the chair, and there were present about 16 members. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. The Secretary read the annual report as follows :
report of COMMITTEE. Your Committee have pleasure in submitting for your pet usual, the annual statement and balance sheet of the Foxton Racing Club for the year ending June 30th, 1909. Again the Club was favourred with fine weather for the annual race meeting held on the 22nd and 23rd January last, and despite the fact that the attendance was excellent, and the fields good, the revenue for the year shows a decided decrease in comparison with 1907-8, this was only to be expected in consequence of the financial depression of the past year. This is noticeable in the totalisator figures, the sum of passing through the totalisator as against last year. The nomination and acceptance fees show the satisfactory sum of whilst the fees from bookmakers exceed that of the previous year by ,£lB. The receipts from all sources, inclusive of the balance brought forward of being, stakes Government tax £177 13s 6d, salaries 6s, improvements and maintenance tising £77 9s thus showing a credit balance -at the end of the financial year of £314 15 s • 3 d - As a recommendation to the incoming committee we would suggest that electric bells be attached to the Stewards’ room and the totalisator bouse, and so expedite facilities in the management of the meeting, A contract has just been completed for the re-sanding ot the training track and the course proper will now receive attention and be placed in thorough order in view of the next meeting. A hearty vote of thanks is due to all officials for their untiring efforts in the welfare of the Club. Your Committee now retire but are eligible for re-election.
