EDUCATION BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held on Tuesday night. Present: Messrs Fred. Pirani, F. Purnell, J. P, Aldridge, G. H. Bennett, Alf. Fraser, W. C. Cargill, E. Dixon, D. H. Guthrie, M.P. Several applications to postpone the spring holidays until the time of the teachers’ examinations in October were acceded to. The statement of accounts showed that the bank overdraft had been reduced to but accounts to the amount ot were passed for payment. Messrs Purnell, Fraser, Bennett, and Pirani were appointed a committee to report on a proposal to obtain legislation to lease the Wanganui Technical School site. Messrs Bennett, Fraser, and Pirani, were appointed to report on the removal of the Taikorea School, and to meet the commute at Taikorea on Wednesday, September 1, at 3 p.m., at the school.
Reave of absence for illness was granted to Misses M. C. Robson (Raetihi), one month; C. J. Rashleigh, (Brownlee), two weeks; M. Lassen (Bunnythorpel, three months. To attend examinations : Mr J. T. Robson and Mr H. Henderson (Halcombe), C. W. Riggins (Rapuni), N. J. Crabb (Matapu), H. W. Jackson (Tairoe). The following committees have been appointed tor the ensuing year;— Building Committee. Messrs Pirani, Dixon and Purnell. Finance Committee. Messrs Pirani, Purnell, Fraser and Bennett. Reports Committee. Messrs Guthrie, Cargill, Bennett and Fraser. Technical and Selection Committees comprise all members of the Board. At the request of Major McDonald, Mr W. Adams (Foxton) was appointed Adjutant of the West Coast School Cadet Battalion.
