CO-OPERATIVE FREEZING WORKS.
“Owing to the inability of Mr J. C. Cooper to attend the meetings advertised in the Wairmapa to discuss the question of a Wellington Farmers’ Co-opeialive Freezing Works, all meetings have been postponed lor an indefinite period.” This paragraph appeared in a Wairarapa paper and gives colour to a rumour that there is a split in respect to the question of site. The East Coasters are determined to have a site for the works on their side of the range. The West Coasters are equally persistent on a sea-board site. We are informed that the West Coast shareholders, seeing that there is no possibility of an amicable settlement being arrived at re site, and being in a minority on the share list, would rather that their shares were transferred to East Coasters, The former could then take up the question of establishing seperate works on this coast or perhaps acquire the Eongburu Works, Under the circumstances we think it would be advisable for the Wairarapa and East Coast to paddle in separate canoes.
