Iu order to get the local competitions finished and allow time fora couple more rep. matches to be played, the Albion Club have decided to forfeit to Rougotea. This now leaves Awahou and Rongotea on an equal footing for the Coley Cup and the final has been arranged to be played on the racecourse 011 Saturday next. On that date the Albious will be engaged in Palmerston having nominated a team in the Abraham Cup competition. The first rep match with Horowhenua has been arranged to be played at Levin on the 4th prox., and a return match at Foxton will be played on a date to be fixed. ,

Brisbane, August n. The Maoris defeated Queensland by 36 to 25. The visitors found Queensland more than a match in the first half, which ended: Queensland 17, Maoris 12. Asher played a brilliant game, haviug four unconverted tries to his credit. In the second half play was fast and furious, Kuhtai, Haira and Ratete obtained tries iu quick succession. Asher converting the last two. Tuike added a fourth, and Ratete another, Taonui adding the extra points. Later, just before “no. time” sounded, Asher crossed the line again, but the kick at goal tailed. At the close of the game several thousand rushed on the ground and made a hostile demonstration against the visitors.
