TENNIS CLUB’S EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE.

AN UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS

There was a splendid attendance at the above function last night, which was held in the Masonic Hall, the interior of which was tastefully decorated for the occasion with flags and bunting, etc. The entire preparatory arrangements were carried out in a most zealous and untiring manner by the Club’s energetic Secretary, Mr G. Phillips, ably assisted by a band of willing helpers, whose names are too numerous to particularise, but suffice to say their efforts were crowned with pronounced success throughout. Shortly after eight o’clock all available tables were occupied, and euchre commenced, continuing briskly till 10.30 p.m., when the prize-winners were announced to be: Ist, Miss Cook; “booby,” Miss Levett; Ist, Mr Woods; “booby,” Mr Perreau. An excellent supper was provided, after which the floor was cleared for dancing, which was kept merrily going till the small hours of the morning. Good music was supplied by Mr Berthold (piano) and Master Carl Berthold (violin), an extra by Miss Cook being also much appreciated.
