ACTRESS-EVANGELIST.
TO return to stage. Sydney, August 5. Interesting correspondence between Miss Ada Ward, the actressevangelist, and Mr Walter Bentley (actor), has been published. Mr Bently sought to obtain from Miss Ward proof of a recent statement that several actors had left the stage through her ministrations in Sydney, and asked her if she had come to a decision about returning to the stage. Miss Ward wired from Melbourne: —"Will accept weekly.”
This telegram was the result of an interview with Mr Bentley in Sydney, when mention was made of staging "Macbeth” and the possibility of Miss Ward’s appearing as Lady Macbeth.
Mr Bentley, in his reply to Miss Ward, stated that the terms were prohibitiveIn a letter from Adelaide Miss Ward stated ; "I shall most likely make my re-appearance at Portsmouth.”
