The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, August 5,1909. THE POST OFFICE.

The official opening of the local post office by the Hon. Dr. Findlay (Acting-Postmaster-General), has been fixed for Saturday next at 12.30 p.m. After the ceremony the Minister will be entertained at luncheon in the Council Chamber and will subsequently be waited upon by several deputations, to be introduced by the member for the district, Mr Ed. Newman. We hope the speakers at the dinner and at the deputations will cut their remarks as short as possible and not weary the Minister and others by “floundering all over the show” with irrelevancies. The two most important matters on which the Minister should be enlightened are the revenue question of the Harbour Board and EfcvinMartou railway. We regret to state that in this connection the Hon. Mr Millar has expressed his inability to be present. He has, however, expressed a desire to do so later when careful consideration is promised to any request that may be laid before him. An opportunity will be afforded to place certain facts concerning harbour and railway matters before Dr. Findlay which will be of use when these questions are again before Cabinet.
