The Labour party’s censure motion in the Assembly was negatived by one vote. Mr Kidston, the Premier, announced that the Government would proceed with business. London, July 28.
In the House of Commons Mr Asquith, Prime Minister, replying to Mr. Pike Pease, Unionist member for Darlington, said the committee ol Investigation «n the AllRed mail route had not removed the many difficulties attending the scheme, but there was no reason to assume that these were insuperable. Prince Arthur of Connaught, at a meeting of the committee of the Anglo-Japanese Exhibition to be held at Shepherd’s Bush in 1910, read a letter addressed to him by King Edward, in which his Majesty remarked :
“International exhibitions in these depend upon private support. I hope, therefore, that the Japanese and British peoples will come forward and promote an undertaking which has for its obj ecf-'a¥..,of the" prosperity of both countries, and the drawing still closer the bonds ot friendship already existing between them.”
