THE NEW POST OFFICE.

The new post office is now ready for occupation, all the fittings arid appointments are in order. We are informed by the postmaster that the office will not be thrown open to the public until the Act-ing-Postmaster-General (Hon. Dr. Findlay) officially performs the ceremony, which, according to a Wellington exchange, will be on August 2nd. We must be thankful for small mercies and be patient for a little longer. The building is quite an ornament to the town and the appointments for the staff and public are yery convenient and up-to-date. We would suggest that the Borough Council put down a concrete approach to the front entrance. There will be ample;time for the Council to carry out this work before the opening ceremony takes place. The Mayor informs us that he has not yet had any intimation when the opening ceremony will be performed.
