FREEZING WORKS.
A RIVAL SITE. Thursday’s Wellington Post says: Negotiations have been begun between the newly-formed Wellington Farmers’ Freezing 1 Company and the Tawa Land Company in connection with a site for the works at Tawa Flat. Enquiries made of the company to-day were to the effect that no communication could be made to the press at the present stage of the proceedings. ' Should the company build its works at Tawa Flat, Wellington will feel tne benefit of another large industry being situated in what is practically a suburb. The works will employ over 200 men, who with their families should form the nucleus of a fairsized settlement at Tawa". The Tawa Flat station is situated eleven miles from the city, and four miles beyond Johnsonville. Should the meat works be established there, no doubt the present train service would be increased. At present the stoppages of uptrains are three a day at Tawa Flat, with an extra train on Saturdays only. There are ten up trains stopping at Johnsonville daily. m
