During the long distance bicycle race in the Old Botanic Garden, Berlin, two motor cycles, acting as pacers, collided and exploded. One machine, enveloped in flames, was hurled into a densely crowded stand, setting fire to women’s dresses.

At least four people were killed and 32 injured.
