ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Christchurch, July 19.
The body of a young man Harold M. Stevenson, 21 years of age, was found in the Ayon River near Hereford Street Bridge this morning. When the body was examined this morning a gun-shot wound was found in the left temple. An inquest was held tonight, when a verdict of death from a self-inflicted gun-shot wound was returned.
Dunedin, July 19. , At the ihquest on Gibson, who was found dead in bed on Saturday, the medical evidence was to the effect that death was caused by an epileptic fit. A verdict was returned according.
At Wellington .last night a steward on the ’ s.s. Monowai, James Lauder had a narrow escape from death by drowning. He fell off the Queen’s Wharf into the harbour, but luckily was rescued by Constable Millar and two Harbour Board officials, who happened to be near.
