CO-OPERATIVE FREEZING WORKS.
After the stock sales at Palmerstolon 'Thursday Mr - J- C. Cooper addressed a meeting of farmers with regard to the proposed farmers’ freezing works. Mr. Cooper repeated the explanatory details in conection with the scheme, as delivered at previous meetings, and, referring to the question of the site of th« works, said that at present they had offers from Wellington, Foxton (a free site offered by the Harbour Board and necessary paddocking accommodation offered by Messrs Wilson and Dalryraple), and the Longburn and Woodville Freezing Works. He said that, if an inland site was determined upon, either of these latter would be available. He added that the farmers were supporting the project in a very encouraging way. The final meeting to decide upon the whole matter will be held in September, but,, before that, it is intended to hold another meeting at Palmerston North.
Mr. J Wingate also addressed the meeting upon the question of site. He greatly favoured the Foxton site, which, as far as he could see was eminently satisfactory.
