Constable Woods Evidence.

Constable Woods deposed that at a quarter to x two on Monday morning he was informed that Thomas Nye had been shot by his son Hedtey. At once went to the

scene, in company with Dr. Adams. Nearing the house heard Violet Nye calling out from an upstairs window. On entering the front door of the house, which was in darkness, Dr. Adams and witness discovered the body Of Thdmas Nye. Deceased was lying pubis back in the .diningroom. After the doctor examined' the body, searched the house for Hedley Nye. Not finding him, went upstairs and brought Violet Nye and escorted her to Mr Symons’ residence. Communicated with the police at Levin, with result that Hedley Nye was arrested there. When arrested by the Levin police he had the gun produced and four cartridges on him.

Deceased when discovered was wearing a flannel singlet, and a piece of candlewas byhisright hand. The right arm was bent as if he had been bolding something. Found two cartridges on the table in the kitchen. To the Coronor: Could not say whether the accused made any statement to the police When arrested at Levin.
