Violet’s Version.
Violet Dagmar Eliza Nye, daughter of deceased, on being sworn, said that a little after i a.m. on Monday she heard her stepmother screaming. Her stepmother called her father’s name twice. That woke her up. Did not hear the Report of the gun. Opened the window and looked out, and saw Hedley running back from the white gate to the house with a gun under’his arm. Then heard Lionel rush downstairs and scream. Looked out of the window again, and saw Hedley running towards the house a second time. Saw him run backwards and forwards two or three times. Heard him rush upstairs and dress himself. He then went down again, and I heard-no more of him. I then waited till some one came. Hedley was- hot dressed when I first saw him out of the window. Had no idea why the deed was perpetrated. There was no quarrel between Hedley and his father. Had not known Hedley make any threats against his father. Some days he was in a bad mood and would not' do anything, but on Sunday he was in an extra good mood.
