We are to have a visit from an English and American concert or* , ganisation known as '‘The Frolics.” The company, composed, of an equal number of male and female.members are specialists in the part singing, of quartettes, sex- . tettes, concerted numbers, piano, monologues and . stories, and" humorous sketches, galore. The performance of no two members is said to be alike ; thus affording a - wealth of variety and insuring a brilliant performance. A few par* ticulars of' the numbers may be of interest. Miss Alice Vaughan is a young Californian soprano, who, has successfully sung her way across' American and had been appearing at the Manhatten Theatre, New York. Her voice musically described, is a leggerio of great purity, in; fact Madame Melba before whom she sang recently spoke of her as “truly remarkable and eminently suitable for Opera Bpuffe.” Mr Courtney Ford commenced his musical edu-’ cation as a boy chorister in St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. He was until recently one of the original characters in the famous Gotham Comedy Quartettem, and as a comedian---basso his performance is a revelation in every, respect. Mr Edward Headlam Is* recognised as one of London’s. : .leading humorists at the. pianoifof the Melb. B. Spurr type). He has recently come from the greatMetropolis, where he. has been' givings recitals at Queen’s' Hall. His piano manipulation Is regarded as versatile and amazing. The tenor vocalist, Mr Selwyn Reeves, (Moody-Manners Opem Company), and Follies, London, has a reputation which speaks for itself. Miss-Ida Yerex the soubretle, hails from the Max Cohen Opera Company, New York, and Is a dainty artist with a captivating mannerism which makes friends with her audience. In addition . her voice is sweet, cultured and re fined. Miss Jenny Bell, is the contralto and Paul de Vries the pianist. Having played here the Frolics proceed to Wellington and a six months tpur of the Dominion*. Mr F. E. R.
