PERSONAL.
Mr and Mrs S. Messena left Fokton on Thursday for a five weeks sojourn at Te Aroha and Rotorua. The friends of Mr and Mrs de Ridder will be pleased to learn that there is a slight improvement in the health of their daughter Freda, who has passed through a critical illness.
Mr Palmer, who is re-visiting Foxton, after an absence of 20 years, informs us fhgt he finds a marked improvement in the town,, and an absence of many once familiar friends. Mr Palmer was Foxton’s first local body clerk and photographer. After leaving Foxton, just prior to the flax boom, Mr Palmer took up land ,ur the Marlborough province, and has recently disposed of his farm.
Mr Gordon, who has held the; position ot first-assistant, at the' ’ local school for a nmnbet of years, 1 has resigned, and intends to follow, commercial pursuits.! We understand that it. is Mr intention to - enter into partnership; with Mr Fowler, as cycle and
general commission * agents. The best wishes of Mr Gordon’s many friends will be with him in his new sphere of labour. ' ; A pleasing ceremony took place in Mr M. Perreau’s rooms yesterday afternoon, when Mr G. tVi Morgan, wbp is shortly master the ranks of the benedicts; vras presented by a number of his friends with a comfortable fit to- ; chair. The Mayor made 'the. presentation, and su, short speech was also made by Dr Handh Mr Morgan suitably acknowledged the gift, alter which afternoon tea was partaken of. Mr W* Bock was the moving spirit in the pleasant little function.
