CONSUMPTION.

Melbourne, July 1.

The Slate Government propose to combat consumption on the lines suggested by Dr Norrie. These provide for observation wards tor special observation and classification of cases ; sanatoria for the treatment of more advanced, but not hopeless cases ; invalid homes for advanced and hopeless cases, and industrial settlements for the last-named.

Dr Norrie says that this scheme will form the coping stone of a complete system for stamping out tuberculosis. At present there are 2000 consumptives in Victoria.
