A WARNING TO TEACHERS.
In his monthly report to the Wanganui Education Board the chief inspector (Mr G. D. Braik) complained that notwithstanding the ameliorated condition of the service some of the teachers in positions more or less responsible displayed a total lack of business capacity, not to say conscientiousness, in connection with their returns, scheme tyooks and daily lesson books. The inspector considered that such conduct on the part of the teachers was in the highest degree reprehensible and unworthy. To all of which we agree and, further, where such reraissness exists we are game to state that the class work of such teachers Is not up to the mark and as a consequence the children are handicapped. There is a big percentage of the milk of human kindness in Mr Braik’s composition, but we are of opinion that quite a number of teachers under the Wanganui Education Board require to be screwed into position or shot out of the service. There is more beneath the surface than Mr Braik makes public.
