AN OPIUM RAID.

Between 9 o’clock and midnight of Thursday last, the police visited the Chinese gardens up the Avenue, occupied by Hop Dee and Wong Lee. The garden of the first-named was first visited, and one employee was caught smoking opium, and the pipe, etc., were confiscated. At the latter’s gardens, two others were caught, and one will be charged with having opium in his possession. Ly Sung, Young Lee, Young See and Wong Lee will appear before the Magistrate on Friday next. Several of the above-named have been previously convicted.
