UNDERSIZED FLOUNDERS.

Oar attention has been directed to the fact that undersized flounders are being marketed in Foxton. It is illegal for fishermen to catch and sell flounders under nine inches in length. By doing so they lay themselves open to a heavy penalty besides having their fishing appliances confiscated. The local police and Harbour-master (Mr J. Hall) have power to act in this matter. This is the second time that offenders have been publicly warned through these columns besides which they have all been supplied with copies of the regulations by the Harbour-master. Surely they can see that by depleting the river of baby fish they are also crippling their own fish industry.
