EDUCATION BOARD.
ORDINARY MEETING. By telegraph-—special to Herald. Wanganui, This Day. The ordinary meeting of the above was held last night. Present: Messrs Pirani, Aldridge, Bennett, Cargill, Dixon, Fraser and Purnell. Appointments: Miss Hansen, Watershed Road.
' Leave of absence was granted to H. Brenhard, sis weeks; J. Browning, four weeks ; H. W. Lock, four weeks. The Ohangai Committee wrote that exception had been taken to the selection of a member of Committee.—lt was resolved to inform the Committee that every member must he a householder : all others were not legally elected.
Bulls.—A sum of £4 10s was granted towards fencing 3A acres for horse paddock. Taihape.—Ashing for beltry and bell for school. Reply to be sent that the Board only supplies hand bells. A petition was recieved , from Taikorea residents, asking that the school be shifted to another site. It was resolved that Mr Fraser visit Taikorea and report. It was decided to distribute to each school, Instructor Davey’s Manual of Physical Instruction. Several applications from School Committees for various works and repairs were refused, as the same should be done by the Committees but of capitation allowance. Accounts amounting to £1243 2s were passed for payment. It was decided that the date of next meeting be left in the Chairman’s bands..,/.
