FOXTON SUB-UNION.
A meeting of the Foxton SubUnion was held in the Hkrai,!) Office on Saturday evening. Present -Messrs Hornblow (chairman), Wanklyn, Reid, Hynes, Robinson, Cook and WhibleyA letter was read from the Manawatu Union in reply to a communication from the Sub - union, stating that they would take no action in reference to players residing within the Subunion’s boundaries and playing in the Manawatu Union’s competition. A further letter from the Manawatu Union stated that as soon as the Sub-union complied with certain rules in reference to affiliation they would reconsider the matter.
After considerable discussion it was decided that the Chairman be appointed to wait on the secretary of the Manawatu Union and get all particulars possible in reference to the terms on which the Subunion was admitted.
The sum of £1 is affiliation fee to the Manawatu Union was passed for payment. It was decided that the secretaries communicate with the Manawatu Union, asking that the Subunion’s players be allowed to participate in the Manawatu Union’s Insurance scheme on the same terms as in 1906. Drs. Adams and Mandl were appointed hon. surgeons to the Sub-union.
Messrs P. T. Robinson, E. Wanklyn and another to be nominated by the Rongotea Club, were appointed a “rep” selection committee.
The Chairman brought up the question of representative matches with outside unions, stating that it would give local football a “big lift” if a trip for the local reps could be arranged this season. It was decided to communicate with the Wairarapa, Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui Unions, with a view to arranging a “rep” fixture. Other minor matters were discussed and the meeting terminated.
