AMY BOCK—ADVENTURESS.
REMANDED FOR SENTENCE. Dunedin, May 3. At the Police Court this morning, Amy Maud Bock was charged that she did, on or about January 4,1909, commit forgery by forging the name of John Roy to a receipt for£92, and uttering same to Arthur Ellis. Accused’s solicitor asked that she might be allowed to have a chair with her back to the audience, but Mr Widdowsou declined the request.
Accused pleaded guilty, and said: —
“ I would like to express my thanks to the police for the kind way in which they have carried out their duties in this matter, and also to thank Mr and Mrs Roy for the kindness with which I was treated when in service with them.” Chief Detective Herbert said three other cases were to be preferred against accused. His Worship said accused would be committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. The question of bail could come up when the other cases were heard.
Accused was then charged with receiving £4l from Margaret Henderson, by means of false pretences, and was remanded till Friday.
