OBITUARY.
The friends of Mr and Mrs Arthur Symons will regret to hear of the death of their two months old son Douglas Lyndon, which took place at an early hour this morning. An enquiry was held subsequently by the Coroner, Alf. Fraser, Esq., at the parents residence. In evidence the mother stated that the child was awake and well at 2.30 a.m., while lying in bed with witness. Witness gave deceased a drink and went to sleep. On awakening after 6 a.m., the mother observed the child lying on its left side facing her. And duttiug her hand under the child’s head to raise him, it fell back again. The mother then discovered that the child was dead. A doctor was summoned but could only pronounce life extinct. In Dr Adams’ opinion the cause of death was asphyxia, the result of overlying. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. The death has proved a great shock to the parents to whom we, in common with others, extend our hea r tfelt sympathy. The funeral will take place on Monday at 1.30 p.ra.
