SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION.

On Monday next householders will have an opportunity of electing school committees for the ensuing twelve mouths. The outgoing committees will present reports and balance-sheets, setting forth what has been done during the past twelve mouths. So far as the Foxton committee is concerned much has been accomplished in the way of improvements to the school grounds during their term of office and the Board has met local requests in a generous manner. Approximately a little over £IOO has been granted to the committee for fencing, concreting, and frosting skylights. The Committee were enabled to arrange an enjoyable picnic for the scholars and to award prizes to deserving pupils. One or two minor grievances have been lodged by parents, but the committee has not been called upon to forward any complaints to the Board. The results of school work, of which the staff is responsible to the Board* has been very satisfactory although the average age of the pupils in the various classes is comparatively high. Several scholars qualified and are now receiving secondary education at the Palmerston District High School. During the year many changes have been made in the teaching staff which has had the effect of disorganising class work. The committee and staff have worked together harmoniously. If any matter requires ventilation, parents will have an opportunity of airing same at Monday night’s meeting. The outgoing committee are Messrs, Hornblow (chairman), Rev. G. K. Aitken (secretary), Betty, Bullard, G. Coley, Henderson, Heuuessy, Perreau, and Read. As the subject of Bible instruction may be introduced at Monday night’s meeting we should advise all parents interested in this question to put in an appearance.
