FARMERS’ FREEZING WORKS.
GETTING THE SCHEME UNDER WAY. * The prospectus of the proposed Farmers’ Freezing Works will be issued immediately. A great many letters have been received from leading farmers in the Wairarapa and other districts promising liberal support to the movement, and Mr Cooper is confident that there will be no difficulty whatever in floating the company. On the question of site, upon which so much depends, and which is of such interest to this locality, Mr Cooper said that it was proposed to form a subcommittee who would visit the proposed sites —Wellington, Porirua, Foxton, and Castlepoiut —in company with an engineer. The engineer would draw up a report, and a printed copy of that report would be sent to every shareholder, together with a ballot paper, and each shareholder would be asked to vote for the site he thought best. It is hoped in this way to arrive at a conclusion satisfactory to the majority. The capital of the company has, as is already known, been fixed nominally at ,£IOO,OOO, but it has been decided that as soon as ,£IO,OOO has been subscribed the company will be floated. Mr Cooper intends to pay a visit to this district as soon as the prospectus is issued, and will address meetings in all the centre's, while the local representatives on the Board—Messrs Wingate, Balsillie, Booth, and Mcllroy—will be assisted by the chairman in a vigorous canvass of the district.
