Sydnky, April 1. Sir Wm. Lyne, who was Federal Treasurer in the Deakin Government, speaking at Gundagi, said there had been an outburst of enthusiasm —he would call it hysthe presentation of a Dreadnought to Britain. He agreed with Mr Fisher’s policy to build torpedo boats’ and he thought that the Government might go farther by building submarines. He deprecated hysteria at such a time, when Britain was not threatened. Australia would never hesitate to do her duty to the Old Country in a time of trouble. Mr Donaldson, a member of the State Parliament, did not agree with Sir \tym- Ey ne ; He believed that thg time had arrived when Australia should give a Dreadnought. Jf devotion and loyalty to the Empire could be dubbed “Jingoism,” he was proud to be a Jingo, Any counter movement could only be classified as “ Dingoism,” emblematic of the dog that bit the hand that fed it,

The Lord Mayor (Mr Allen Taylor), in issuing a further appeal in aid of the Dreadnought fund, said: “ Let me again express congratulations to the people of New Zealand on the magnificent offer which has commanded the attention and admiration of the whole world. ::
