The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, April 1,1909. LEVIN-MARTON RAILWAY.
Ki.skwhkkk in this issue we publish a statement received by Mr Feild, member for Otaki, from the Minister for Public Works, iu reference to the proposed connecting railway link between Levin and Marlon via Foxtou. In face of the continued applications for information on this subject to the Minister by Mr Newman, member for Manawatu, it seems somewhat strange and even discourteous on the part of the Minister, to allow any important pronouncement on the subject to become public per medium of Mr Feild in view of the activity ‘ displayed by Mr Newman. The only conclusion we can come to is, that, Mr Feild being a staunch supporter of the Government is the medium through which information of this nature must first come. We have no desire to stir up party politics, but it is recognised iu this electorate that Mr Newman has doue and is doing a great deal to further this railway route, and the Minister should have given the information, so readily tendered to Mr Feild, to Mr Newman weeks ago-
We are pleased to learn from a communication received by the local Chamber of Commerce from Mr Newman that the Premier and the Minister for Public Works have consented to be motored over the proposed route, probably in May.
