Section 363 of the Municipal Corporations Act reads as follows ; No concert or entertainment of any kind which is open to the public, whether by the purchase ot tickets or otherwise, shall be held or given on any Sunday without the written consent of the Council, and then only subject to such conditions in every respect as the Council may impose. The Council may exercise this power either generally or in any particular case or class of cases, and may delegate such power to any of its members. The above section ot the Act is explicit and it is the duty of the Borough Council to see that the provisions of the Act are observed. The Klton Company announced that a sacred concert would lake place in the Public Hall last Sunday night. We are not aware that the said company first obtained a permit, but if they did, then we feel certain that the programme submitted for the Council’s approval was not perused, for several persons in the audience were so disgusted with the so - called “sacred” items that they left the building. If the Elton crowd cannot make sufficient out of their “show” during six nights of the week, then they should turn their attention to other pursuits. The point is, however, did the company receive the Council’s sanction to hold the concert ?
