RACING.

The programme of the Marlborough Racing Club’s Autumn meeting, to be held at the Riverlands racecourse, Blenheim, on sth and 6th May next, has now been published and appears in the Weekly Press. In addition to the Marlborough Cup of 200 sovs and Flying Handicap of too sovs., there is an Open Welter Handicap of 80 sovs on the first day, the programme for which is filled up with four hack races of from 60 to 70 sovs, and a Hack Hurdle Race of 60 sovs. The second day’s races consists of three open races, one Hack Hurdle and four hack races —one for gentleman riders only. The programme is a distinct advance upon last year’s programme and should draw excellent nominations from this part of the Island. Nominations for all races close with the secretary (Mr Griffiths) at Blenheim on Saturday, 17th April. Mr Angus Keith has been appointed starter in place of Mr Geo. Lane, who acted at last meeting and has now resigned. During the last six months the Marlborough Racing Club have effected further improvements to the course, which is now one of the best in New Zealand,
