A FAMILY MURDERED.

Melbourne, March 23. A tragedy is reported from North Brighton. William Holmes, his wife, and two children, aged respectively four years and two months, were found dead in bed. Holmes’throat was cut, and the others had their heads battered-.in. The man bad used a claw hammer to kill the family, and then had committed suicide. Holmes was unable to obtain work, and was despondent. He is supposed to have committed the crime in a sudden fit of mania.
