ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.
Mr J. J. Kinsey, New Zealand representative of the British Antarctic expedition, states that the Nimrod, with Lieutenant Shackieton and members of the exploring party, may return to New Zealand at any time now, although she is not actually due until the last week of this mouth. The members of the “Farthest South” party probably returned to their winter quarters at Cape Royds in Macmurdo Sound in time to depart in the Nimrod not later than February 15. The scheme adopted was that the Nimrod, after taking the explorers on board and getting out of the pack ice, should uudeitake scientific investigation in the southern seas. If conditions for work ot that nature are not favourable it will be abandoned, and in that case the vessel will probably come to its headquarters in New Zealand without delay. Lieutenant Shackleton has thirteen men with him in the Antarctic.
