A WONDERFUL EYE DOCTOR.

A humble “eye doctor," who claims ability to cure disorders of the vision, which, in some instances, have baffled the skill of professional oculists, was found recently by a correspondent of the Daily Mail in his cottage at Larkhall, a small Lanarkshire town. He is a working miner, William Miller, in the prime of life, and for r 6 years has devoted his leisure to ministering to persons who sought his advice and treatment for their eyes. His fame appears to have spread beyond his own locality; and as to his achievements, he was induced, by questions, to make the following statements : “During the past year he has treated 175 persons between the ages of three weeks and 14 years for defective eyesight, and only twelve had to use glasses after passing through his hands. It is not uncommon for 50 or 60 patients to visit him on Saturday or Sunday. They come not only from the ranks of the toilers, but from the business and higher social circles of the district.” Miller’s reputation has apparently travelled far, as Press representatives from different parts of the country have been seeking interviews. His simple story is .that more than 20 years ago his own eyesight troubled him, and he consulted a “local man wilh a reputation.’’ Becoming interested, he studied under that man for seven years, and after his instructor’s death he ventured treatment on his own account. About to years ago he discovered the one thing lacking in his treatment, and since then he declares be has not had a failue among the hundreds of cases he has treated of cataract and ulcerated eyes. Where the patient earned out his instructions, cases which had battled the best medical skill for months had often been cured by him in from seven to nine days. “The diseases of the eye treated' by me are cataract and ulceration, of which there are three kinds, ‘duct tumors,’ ‘fires,’ and that unsightly inflamalion which is often the residue of measles.” These he claims to treat successfully. One patient had suffered, he said, for 10 years ; every available remedy was tried ; and he effected a complete cure in six weeks. He consults by post, and has had consultants in Manchester, Middleborough. Canada, and the United States, curing people whom he had never seen.
