HARBOUR BOARD MATTERS.
[TO THK EDITOR.J Sir, —In the last issue of your paper, a correspondent raises the question of Mr Hennessy’s departure from Foxton, which will leave the Harbour Board district, which, I uuderstand, is the borough of Foxton, unrepresented on the Board during his absence. While I disagree with the personal tone of “ Ratepayer’s ” letter, I think Mr Hennessy would be studying the best local interests if he were to tender his resignation in order that the Board would be a fully representative one. In saying this, I would not like Mr Hennessy or your readers to think I have a personal grievance against Mr Hennessy, quite the contrary. But looking'at the question from a common-sense point of view, I can see no reason in keeping the vacancy open. The Harbour Board is constituted to govern the port, and every member must be a worker, and as Foxton’s interests, in my opinion, are the most important, it follows that its representatives should attend every meeting at least for the first twelve mouths, while its policy is being formulated. Apologising for taking up your space.—Yours etc.,
