TURNING A VICAR OUT
The dispute between the Rev. K. IT. Scott, who was fonncrly vicar of the Anglican Church at Alexandria (Victoria), and the authorities ot the Church of Ragland there, was before the Court in Melbourne on February 19th. Some lime ago the Church of England trust corporation cf the diocese of Wangaratla and the Rev. James A. Peek (who was appointed vicar) commenced an action against Mr Scott to recover possession of the church manse. Mr Scott was in possession of the manse, and he retained possession of it until Monday, February 15th. Mr Park and the Rev. Lambe on that day, during the absence of Mr Scott, went to the manse, accompanied by six carpenters, and taking possession of the building, removed the roof, and took Mr Scott’s furniture to a cottage halt a mile away. An application was made to the Chief Justice for an injnetion to restrain plaintiff from further interfering with the building until the pending action was made ex pai le. His Honour said the act oi taking possession of the manse was an outrageous proceeding. He had, however, heard oily one side of the case, and would grant an interim injunction against plaintiff from further interfering with the building. A telegram from Alexandria that night stated that nothing was left standof the house but a heap of bricks, iron and timber. Everything was in a state of chaos.
