ASSAULT ON A CONSTABLE.
Timaru, Feb. 23
Two men, one of whom was J. Reekie, a well-known middleweight boxer, were arrested at Washdyke this morning on a charge of assaulting Constable Collins at Pleasant Point yesterday. The Constable was proceeding to arrest Reekie in an hotel bar when the latter struck him in the face, and two others coming to hjs assistance they severely handled and eventually overpowered the Coqstable and got away. The third man is not yet arrested.
