CLAIM FOR NEGLIGENCE.
AGAINST A DENTIST,
Wku.ington, February 23
At the Supreme Court on Tuesday, before Mr Justice Cooper and a special jury of twelve, the hearing was concluded of a case in which Daisy Cook, a young woman, claimed from Herbert Pearson Rawson, dentist, of Wellington, for bodily injuries alleged to have been inflicted upon her during the course of an operation for the extraction of a number of teeth. Plaintiff, by her statement of claim, alleged that defendant so negligently and so unskilfully treated her that a tooth was allowed by defendant to fall into her lung. Defendant, by his statement ofdefence, denied that he was in any way guilty of negligence or unskilfulness. The jury, by eleven to one, found in favour of the defendant, but considered the plautiff was perfectly bona fide in bringing the action, and decided to make her a-present of their juror’s fees.
