An earthquake in Sivas, Asia Minor, destroyed 430 houses, but caused few fatalities. The Canterbury Convocation Committee recommend a revised Eectionary, optional eucharist vestment, optional Athanasiau Creed, optional omission, where there are many communicants, of the words “in remembrance” where used in administering bread and wine, optional immersion in baptism, and a new alternative of the burial service of great beauty and simplicity. The Grand Duke Vladimir, the Tsar’s uncle, died at St. Petersburg, of asthma. Eondon, February 18.
The jury disagreed in the trial of Mrs Haskell at Devizes for the alleged murder of the cripple boy Teddy on October 31.
