MUNICIPAL ELECTION.

Thk election of a Mayor and Councillors for the borough takes place in April next. It is unlikely that Mayor Gower will again seek re-election. We are informed that Cr Frankland is to be asked to allow himself to be nominated for the position. Several of the present Councillors do not intend to seek office for another term. The following townsmen have been mentioned as likely to offer their services for the good government of the borough at the forthcoming election :—Messrs Dr. Adams, E. Ball, W. E. Bullard, G. W. Morgan, T. Rimmer, P. H, RaeHoward, and P. T. Robinson. The question of a water supply and town hall will no doubt be part ol the programme for the candidates to consider. We hope a little more interest will be taken in our municipal affairs by citizens than heretofore.
