CRICKET.

The match between Foxtou and Debaters, played on the Park pitch yesterday afternoon, resulted in a draw. No time had been fixed by the captains for drawing stumps, and at six o’clock Debaters required 13 runs to win and had five wickets to fall. The Foxtou captain then wanted to draw stumps, as at all previous matches this had been done at six o’clock. The skipper of Debaters objected and considered that where there was a chance of a match being decided one way or the other, play was to continue while there was sufficient light. The Foxton captain would not agree to this, and stumps were drawn, the match ending in a rather unsatisfactory draw. • Foxton batted first and knocked up 102, Nightingale 38 (not out), Momo, 1 and Cook 10, being the chief scorers. The first-named, who had not played for two years, gave a splendid exhibition of batting, Gordon was the most successful bowler, securing five wickets for 22 runs, and Bo we accounted for three wickets at the same cost.

At a quarter to five o’clock Debaters commenced their innings, and when stumps were drawn at 6 o’clock, had scored 90 runs for the loss of five wickets, 80we52 (not out) played a-faultless innings, and Young, 11, was the only other double figure scorer. Momo captured three wickets for 19 runs. The following are the scores:— FOXTON.
