The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday, February 9. 1909.
At Government House, Palmerston N., on Saturday last, a son was born to his Excellency and Eady Plunket. Palmerston is, of course, very pleased over the event, and flags were flying on the Municipal Chambers and elsewhere in honour of the event. Her Excellency has set a splendid example to those “society" women of this fair land who look upon babies as “ undesirable immigrants." Their Excellencies were married in 1894, their family now consisting of eight chiidreu, the eldest Helen, being about 13 years of age. The others, in order ot birth are: Eileen, Moyra, Terence, Joyce, Brinsley, Ethne, the last-named a two-year-old babe. We shall not be surprised to hear that our Palmerston morning contemporary has issued a coupon asking its numerous readers throughout the Dominion and Australia to kindly fill in a name which they think suitable for the boy. How would Denis fill the bill ?
