Mr Florence, S.M., gave an important decision at Kohukohu on Thursday last, when Mr Cox, headmaster of the KohukohU 1 School, and John M’Gechie, assistant, were charged with ing several sixth standard pupils. The case of Selwyu Maxwell was taken as a. test. It was shown that the Boy participated in cheering, outside the school gates just after school hours, two boys who had been punished. The demon-, stration was a defiance of the headmaster. The Magistrate's decision was that the law gave the master power to punish a pupil for misconduct while on the way home from school, and the punishment was. not excessive. The informations were therefore dismissed, with costs 1 os; against theparents. , , , . ,
