CORRESPONDENCE
[TO 'THE EDITOR |
Sir,—l was shocked to read the remarks made by Mr Stansell at a banquet at Levin, and appearing in your paper of Saturday last. Asa fresh arrival to the district, I shall be glad to know whether the uuforhate man referred to by Mr Stansell was a Foxton miller, driven to felo-de-se by the rapacity of local Sbylocks, or would one have to look further afield ? Mr Stansell refers to the present royalty charged as “ robbery !” Is this correct. I had been led to believe that the owners of the green leaf were the benefactors of the millers, and that it is the exceedingly high wages paid to the employees that is the drawback. Can you give me any information concerning these matters, and oblige.—Yours etc., Inquirer.
