MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
A meeting of the Trustees of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held in the Board’s office on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs Gower (Chairman), Hammond, Symons, Barber, and Easton. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from Mr T. Ward, the Board's engineer, re hiring machinery and appointing a working foreman for the work, also asking what steps the Board had taken to have the ground required for the drain cleared. The Clerk was instructed to reply, asking for further} information re machinery and foreman, and stating that tenders for the work of clearing were to be called shortly. A wire was received from Messrs Skerrett and Wylie, advising that the Board had power to complete the work by day labour. Accounts amounting to ,£169 12S id were passed for payment on the motion of Mr Barber seconded by Mr Symons. The Clerk reported that the loan account was in credit ,£l3B 14s 6d ami the general account showed a debit ot £9 16s ud. The amount of rates outstanding was ,£lO5 2s gd, made up of ,£75 18s id general rates, and £29 4s 8d special rates. It was proposed by Mr Hammond and seconded by Mr Easton, that Mr Reade be instructed to prepare a legal agreement for signature by owners undertaking to convey the necessary laud required for drain when called upon. —Carried. It was decided that the trustees inspect the land required for the drain at an early date, and draft specifications and invite tenders for clearing same. "Ihe Board rose at 9.50 p.m.
