New Zealand’s Sympathy.

Sir Joseph Ward (Prime Minister) cabled, through the Governor, to Vice-Admiral Sir Richard Poore, expressing the regret aud sympathy of the people in New Zealand in the sad disaster which overtook fifteen brave men of H.M.S. Encounter. The Admiral cabled yesterday in reply : “ I gratefully acknowledge the kind expression of the sympathy of yourself, the Government, aud the people of the Dominion. I shall have pleasure in communicating it to the officers and men of the Encounter.”
